 abstract={The basic aim of the article is to analyze modern Polish culture with the use of Geert Hofstede`s theoretical proposition, which refers to the dimension of masculinity-femininity. The analysis covered selected aspects of such areas of social and cultural life, such as religion, politics, media, family, sexuality, job market, education. The executed analysis leads to the conclusion that Poland belongs to the category of masculine cultures.},
 abstract={Socioeconomic and political transformation after 1989 changed the male-oriented character of Polish culture only to a limited extent. In spite of changes resulting in a greater participation of women in public life and a greater participation of men in family life and domestic responsibilities than a few decades ago, there are still present in Polish culture strong stereotypes connecting men with the public sphere and women with the domestic sphere. Moreover, in our country the emancipation of women is presented as a threat to social order, conservative opinions on sexuality are dominant, and there also exists strong concern about homosexual persons.},
