 abstract={The aim of the article is to present the genre features of reviews in terms of structural, cognitive, stylistic and pragmatic approach. The analysed text was formally a letter to the editor of the "Monitor" magazine, published in No. 20 of 1783. This text refers to the satire entitled "A gift for Warsaw ladies, or a Fashionable Parishioner from Cracow`s piedmont".},
 abstract={Comparing the reviewed original with its assessment presented by Podgórzanin, one can notice the incompleteness and selectiveness of the topics discussed. There is no description of the content and form of the reviewed text. This review is intended to discourage reading. This is achieved by the use of lexical and syntactic evaluative elements, including ironic expressions concerning the author and his text, numerous rhetorical questions and exclamations. Negative evaluation becomes the stylistic dominant of the entire statement. The cognitive aspect concerns the living conditions of women in the capital and in the part of the country that fell under the Austrian partition (Galicia).},
