This reflection is based on an analysis of two contrasting yet complementary perspectives: Martha C. Nussbaum`s book "Not for Profit: Why Democracy Needs the Humanities" and Martin Heidegger`s 1933 rectorial address, interpreted from a critical standpoint.}, abstract={Nussbaum diagnoses the crisis of the humanities as a consequence of subordinating education to market logic and the loss of its civic dimension. Heidegger, despite the historical entanglement of his speech in an ideological context, points to the necessity of returning to the question of the essence of science and the spiritual task of thinking. Juxtaposing these two positions makes it possible to capture the tension between ethical and hermeneutic understandings of the university`s mission.}, abstract={The article argues that concern for the humanities goes beyond academic interests; it is a condition for the survival of democratic culture and the preservation of the university as a place for the formation of responsible consciousness. The analysis adopts a philosophical-hermeneutic approach and contributes to the debate on the condition of contemporary humanities.}, type={artykuł}, title={Czy uniwersytet jest jeszcze "miejscem" kultury?
