They are not only important hydrological objects, but also essential components of the water cycle. Their surface area is about 636 km2, and the capacity exceeds 4.7 km3. For comparison the total multiyear mean runoff from the Odra basin lakeland is about 5.7 km3. We must undoubtedly gain some minimum knowledge about the lakes where sustainable management would be planned. The EU Directive recommends that every member country should determine its ecological status of lakes bigger that 50 ha, and gives adequate criteria.}, abstract={This article deals with hydrological morphometric and physicochemical criteria. At the present moment, the state of our knowledge about elements recommended by the EU Directive is slight. Especially hydrological elements are neglected because lake balance surveys in Poland almost are not carried out. Balance data are available only for individual lakes. We do not know either the water exchange time, the flow amount of dynamics, let alone the connection of underground waters with reservoirs. Information on these subjects is only approximate.}, abstract={If necessary, runoff from the lake is usually estimated from mean runoff modulus isoline. We shall intensify lake balance surveys if we wont to meet the Directive requirements. Morphometric elements can be best presented on an appropriate bathometric plan. Every lake has such a plan, but most of these plans were made as early as in the fifties and sixties of the last century, on the basis of sounding from the ice, mostly in 50 m square graticule.}, abstract={New plans should be made for these lakes. Physicochemikal elements are known for the majority of lakes, but for a considerable part of the lakes, they come from distant years. New surveys are needed. We suggest that the surveys should be combined with the monitoring which must be modified in Poland likewise.}, type={artykuł}, title={Dyrektywa UE a zrównoważona gospodarka zasobami wodnymi jezior dorzecza Odry = EU directive versus sustainable management of water resources in the lakes of Odra-river basin}, keywords={3 Międzynarodowa konferencja "Ochrona i rekultywacja terenów dorzecza Odry: zrównoważona gospodarka zasobami naturalnymi" (24-25.06.2004)}, }
