In teaching how to enter into a prayer dialogue with God, St. Theophan considered a moulding of one`s heart of the most important spiritual exercises; piety and turning one`s mind to God were seen as means to this end. In Poland, the work of this theologian is known not only in the Orthodox but also in the Catholic circles (Jan Pryszmont published a monograph about him in 1979).}, abstract={Nonetheless, there are only two translations of his powerful writings and a dozen miscellaneous articles. So, he remains somewhat underrepresented. In the article, the work of St. Theophan is described within the context of Russian hesychasm; I am pointing out those aspects of the theologian`s thought that Polish researchers are interested in the most, and outline the perspectives for further research.}, type={rozdział w książce}, title={O obecności dzieła św.
