PB - Zielona Góra: Oficyna Wydawnicza Uniwersytetu Zielonogórskiego N2 - Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in Goczałkowice belongs to the Upper Silesian Waterworks in Katowice. Production of WTP Goczałkowice is around 45% of the total production of drinking water in the whole waterworks. The paper presents results of studies on changes in the concentration of ammonium nitrogen (N-NH4 +) and nitrate nitrogen (N-NO3-) in water collected after various treatment processes. N2 - Determination of ammonium nitrogen was carried out using Nessler reagent and nitrate nitrogen - colorimetric method with brucine reagent. In subsequent processes, in-line GO-GO CZA CZA and II, there was a decrease of ammonium nitrogen concentrations below the level of quantification. The limit value of ammonium ions in drinking water specified in the Regulation Ministry of Health from 20th April 2010 is 0.50 mg NH4 +/dm3. Water treated in WTP Goczałkowice meets these requirements and the concentration of ammonium nitrogen is much lower than the limit specified in regulation. N2 - In these regulation there is also acceptable concentration of nitrates in the water for human consumption (50 mg NO3-/dm3). After appropriate conversion of nitrate nitrogen to nitrates may be concluded that also in this respect, water treated in WTP Goczałkowice meet the legal quality requirements.
