 abstract={The People`s Republic of China is the fourth largest source of emigrants and the world`s largest source of international students. This is hardly surprising, given China`s population and the increasing travel of Chinese citizens. The focus of this paper is to explore the perceptions and attitudes of individuals in countries that receive Chinese migrants, tourists and students. It is imperative to objectively analyse how they shape their attitudes towards the Chinese.},
 abstract={The author distinguishes such attitudes using primary sources, which offer varying perspectives on the topic, including tourism andor migration, the policies of host countries, the sense of familiarity or foreignness of the Chinese towards destination country citizens, and a temporal perspective. It appears that the nature of Chinese migration has changed dramatically as a result of policy changes linked to the granting of Approved Destination Status (ADS) over the last 25 years. Recent events such as the COVID-19 pandemic have placed China in the centre of attention, contributing to the changing image of the Chinese.},
