 abstract={The subject of the study is a genologically oriented review of interwar periodicals promoting knowledge of the English language among Poles. Three monthly magazines and one biweekly document the intensive development of the press and the growing position of English among Poles in that period. The article uses the way of understanding the genre and the tools for its description proposed by Maria Wojtak. The periodicals discussed represent specialized press.},
 abstract={The specific goal is a preliminary genological characterization of periodicals, i.e. an attempt to describe their structure, communication implications of their functioning, the topics covered and the selection of forms of communication. Analyzes have shown that the genological shape of magazines is determined by their glottoeducational, informational and ludic function. A clear pragmatic situation determines the style of communication with the reader, influences the reduction of typical press genres in favor of glottoeducational and ludic ones, and determines the multi-genre and multi-style nature of magazines.},
