 abstract={The author returns to the issues of differentiation of the Polish language and the question of distinguishing the variety associated with the media. After presenting the whole range of positions of various linguists, while paying attention to the terminological polilexia and the basic differences in the way of grasping these issues, she presents her own concept of the media style. She proposes the cultural and descriptive approach to this phenomenon (and not differential). The author postulates that the relationship between language varieties should be viewed multidimensionally. She also points to the possibility of different interpretations of the issue of identity of language varieties.},
 abstract={The author describes the media variety as a polymorphic category in terms of its features and open in the sphere of linguistic means. In the analysis, she deliberately takes into account only the functional perspective so as to present the interpretative possibilities of the chosen path of the research procedure on the basis of the exemplary analysis of a press text. She treats the entirety of her considerations as an attempt to show the analytical usefulness of research methods derived from functional stylistics - traditional, yet slightly modified in the author`s approach. They appear to be a valuable element of research perspectives relating to media communication.},
