 abstract={Lemkos appeared in the so-called "Recovered Lands" because of the "Operacja "Wisła". They were settled in a dispersed manner, usually in small towns. Additionally, the identity of Lemkos is divided between an independent national existence and identifying as part of the local Ukrainian group. Currently, they are recognized as a separate ethnic minority in Poland.},
 abstract={The past significantly influences how Lemko representatives, who identify as a distinct minority, participated in the 2024 local elections. This includes how their ethnic affiliation was utilized and the weight it carried in their election campaigns. The way contemporary media were used is also related to the fact that Lemkos live in scattered communities and small towns. Furthermore, they utilized their active involvement in social movements, not only for their own ethnic minority but also for all residents of the municipality or town. Lemko candidates are known for their artistic, social contributions or for promoting their history, culture, and language.},
