 abstract={The paper analyses legal acts regulating archival activity in Poland, with particular emphasis on the following issues: the definition and classification of the national archival holdings; the criteria for distinguishing archival materials from non-archival documentation; the institutions contributing to the state archival holdings that produce archival materials; the archives and organisational units responsible for archival activity in relation to archival holdings; the definition and classification of non-state archival holdings; and the tasks of archives with respect to non-state archival holdings.},
