It is him who represents an example to follow, shows ways and methods of activating creative attitudes. N2 - There is no doubt that contemporary teacher should not only create and acquire novelties but also to be able to understand situations in which he participates; he should be aware of the influence that he has on shaping his pupils, sense of activities in which he takes part. PB - Zielona Góra: Faculty of Economics and Management Press N2 - This article examines modern economy and society taking the formational approach, which is based on the concept that for the modern world and the predicted future, the economy will remain the foundation of society. An understanding of modern society as a post-capitalist society is proposed and justified. N2 - The definition of post-capitalism is determined as a stage of capitalism. Humankind would enter its last stage, a stage of liberal democracy and global capitalism. The major features of post-capitalistic society are examined and analyzed: economic, political, spiritual, cultural and domestic. The economic determinism in its pure form is supplemented with informational determinism in modern society, although the economy remains the primary determinant of social development. N2 - Post-capitalism is not a new concept but rather is a new stage in the development of a capitalist socioeconomic formation. An important distinction between capitalism and post-capitalism is that capitalism is characteristic of a society that is engaged in industrial and commercial development. A society has reached the post-capitalism stage when it has passed the industrial stage and entered the information era. PB - Zielona Góra: Faculty of Economics and Management Press N2 - Digital resolution is currently one of the most important forces determining changes and their dynamics in the social, cultural and economic dimension. Digital technologies such as the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence will, according to Gartner's Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies 2017, play an increasingly important role while creating a new quality of the market space. N2 - Yet, these are multidimensional issues whose potential should be considered both, from the perspective of enterprises that create and/or adapt such technologies in their production, logistics or sale processes as well as in consumer perspective taking into account a degree of awareness, interest and fascination of potential buyers, users with such devices and solutions. This is determined by dualism of approach to digital technologies (economic approach vs. humanistic approach) and evaluation of their potential benefits and threats. N2 - It seems, however, that virtualization of consumer behaviour as a consequence of impact of technologies such as the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence, can at the same time be a significant driving force of further processes of digitalization, its dimensions and dynamics. It was assumed that there is a connection between the value of Local Human Development Index (LHDI) and education efficiency established by means of the data envelopment analysis (DEA). The analysis covered data regarding 60 counties, recorded in 2013-2015. 30 counties with the highest Local Human Development Index (LHDI) and 30 counties with the lowest LHDI value were selected. N2 - The counties were selected based on a 2010 ranking of counties ordered according to LHDI values, published as a part of the National Report on Human Development. An additional analysis was conducted to evaluate the connection between Education Efficiency Index and the Wealth Index, Health Index and Education Index. The data on the counties used for the analyses was obtained from the Local Data Bank kept by the Main Statistical Office of Poland (GUS) and the Education Research Institute (IBE) of the Ministry of National Education. N2 - The efficiency analysis based on DEA-CRS was conducted with DEAFrontier software. The final stage of the analyses involved an ANOVA unidimensional analysis of variance for multiple factors, with emphasis on contrast analysis (simple contrast). The quality predictor applied in those analyses was the class of Efficiency Index. The analyses demonstrate that the highest Education Efficiency Index has been recorded in the counties that have the highest values of analysed variables characteristic of the largest counties. PB - Zielona Góra: Faculty of Economics and Management Press N2 - In the 21st century in a globalized world the level of competitiveness depends on numerous factors. This article concentrates deliberations on several of them, including space, population and international exchange. For ages, the international position of a country depended on its geographical size or access to sea. The country's size was also determined by its internal demographic potential. N2 - As civilization progressed, there was a reorientation of factors which influence the development of individual countries and their regions. The contemporary world has seen an emergence of countries with small surface area and minor human potential, which yet are global development leaders. In the literature, they are often referred to as small states. Analysis of research shows that small countries are more involved, for instance, in providing support for the society. N2 - International exchange is also important for the development of individual countries. In this aspect, small countries turn the apparent threat related to a small market into an advantage. In the conclusion of the deliberation, the authors of the study point out that despite significant economic, social and cultural evolution, space and population are still important elements of development, although, they note, the role of such elements of spatial policy as natural resources is smaller than in the past. PB - Zielona Góra: Faculty of Economics and Management Press N2 - In the years 2017-2018 the Marketing Faculty of Łódź University conducted a research project "Marketing strategies of companies based in Łódź Voivodeship on foreign markets". The aim of this text is to present the initial research findings strategies implemented by surveyed companies on foreign markets. N2 - The examined companies seldom attempted to conduct the foreign market research and the marketing strategy that they used was strictly related to the prevailing form of expansion into foreign markets, i.e. export. Both the product and the pricing policy were adapted to the specific character of the foreign market. Activities in the area of distribution were limited to indirect export and they were not initiated by the examined companies. N2 - The prevailing majority of companies used the Internet, trade fairs and exhibitions in their promotional activities. The intermediaries in the distribution channel were responsible for subsequent promotional activities. They involve marketing strategies typical for small and medium companies and their content depends on the intermediaries in the distribution channel on foreign markets. PB - Zielona Góra: Faculty of Economics and Management Press N2 - The research methodology of family businesses is increasingly becoming the subject of scientific discussion that shows how difficult and complex task it is. Research area is located on the border of several disciplines, which raises significant methodological problems. Qualitative methods are useful for studying the problems of small family businesses, in particular related to the sphere of issues of identity, culture, values and the relationship between the family and the company. N2 - Qualitative methods allow for more efficient acquisition of reliable data on "sensitive" subjects in comparison with quantitative methods. It is equally important to provide information about the complex social processes that are better studied with open methods. The methodology of qualitative research is not without its limitations. First of all, by definition it poses problems of generalization, and thus also theorizing. Research results are burdened with considerable subjectivity which can be transformed into inter-subjectivity by using different methods and perspectives. N2 - In the qualitative studies of small family businesses methodological pluralism which allows the creation of mixed research programs can be postulated. Combining quantitative and qualitative methods in one research program may provide important, but not always commensurate results. One can also point to the need for methodological triangulation and therefore the use of different, complementary research methods and techniques that will allow to describe the studied small family company in its entire complexity. N2 - The example of duo-ethnography provides the possibility to achieve a high level of relational demands allowing for the creation of unique philosophy of the meeting, a deep entry into the unique history of the studied entity and ownership family and the adoption of prospects for the narrator and an expert person participating in the study. PB - Zielona Góra: Faculty of Economics and Management Press N2 - The aim of this article is to exemplify the results of researches on work engagement in the company operating in the IT sector. The research methodology includes the studies of scientific literature and the quantitative method (survey questionnaire). The sample in the study comprises 509 employees of a company operating in the IT sector. Work engagement was measured with of the original 17-item Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES). N2 - Using in the research a standardized tool gives the opportunity to compare different results obtained in subsequent periods of time in the company, as well as, it can be the point of reference in the assessment of work engagement in other companies of the IT and other sectors. The results of the research show a relatively high level of work engagement in the composite aspect and its individual dimensions and subdimensions in the company operating in the IT sector. N2 - The scientific literature studies provide the managers with information on how various issues are related to the level of work engagement and on the usefulness of periodic researches in the company. However, the results of the empiric research help the managers to diagnose of the work engagement and to take more conscious decisions how to improve or maintain it on the same level. PB - Zielona Góra: Faculty of Economics and Management Press N2 - The most important factor in small and medium-sized enterprises is undoubtedly the training; intellectual capital directly impacts the growth and productivity of the organization, so the preparation given to employees is vital. The study carried out a factorial analysis to identify the components to be considered in the training of the SMEs in the industrial sector of Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, México. N2 - The considered variables were: training, legal aspects of training, training budget, training course instructors, training culture and seniority in the company. As a result, the analysis of communalities allows us to observe that of these variables, the one that produces the lowest percentage of the variance is the age of the company, so it could be dispensed as a component of the training. They were conducted among managers of 82 enterprises operating in Poland. The research method was the diagnostic survey method (technique of the distributed questionnaire). N2 - The findings of the conducted research indicate that the surveyed companies establish numerous relationships with various groups of stakeholders. These relationships are characterised by different frequencies and varying degrees of significance from the point of view of development of the surveyed companies. The relationships are established in an intentional manner as well as a result of exploiting emerging opportunities. RC management, however, is not a strong point of the surveyed companies. PB - Zielona Góra: Faculty of Economics and Management Press N2 - A significant level of uniqueness and variability of the carried out tasks compel the management of contemporary organizations to continuously search for methods and concepts allowing to increase flexibility in adapting their organizations to ongoing changes. One of such concepts oriented at increasing the levels of flexibility of an organization is strategy, which up to the end of the last century was used mainly in organizations driven by financial results. N2 - Yet the analysis of the phenomena taking place in both the closer and more removed environment of the local administration allows us to observe that these entities, operating under public scrutiny and political pressure, have to face up to increasingly complex requirements regarding the reduction of time spent on the realization of tasks in hand having limited financial resources at their disposal and ensuring the high quality of the services rendered which is possible, among others, due to locating their activities in strategic space. N2 - However it should be noted that in order to obtain results expected from the strategy, it is necessary to adjust the level of its advancement to both external and internal conditions, which in turn demands evaluating its strategic maturity. The aim of this article is to present the authors' proposal of a model for evaluation of strategic maturity of the local government, based on the assumptions of the good governance concept. N2 - On the basis of the analysed subject literature, the authors addressed the essence of the concept of good governance, pointed out the role of maturity models in the process of improving an organization and discussed the importance of strategy in the local administration. N2 - The demonstrated need for conducting evaluation of the levels of maturity in the strategy of local government, as well as the advisability of including in the process of evaluation the main assumptions of the good governance concept raised in this study, provided the basis for the proposed model of evaluating strategic maturity of the local government.
