Abstract_pl:Artykuł przedstawia historię niedźwiedzia Wojtka, niezwykłego towarzysza żołnierzy 2. Korpusu Polskiego w czasie II wojny światowej. Adoptowany przez polskich żołnierzy w Iranie w 1942 r., stał się nie tylko maskotką, ale także aktywnym uczestnikiem życia wojskowego, jak również symbolem prawdziwej więzi i przyjaźni między zwierzęciem a człowiekiem. Wychowany wśród żołnierzy 22. Kompanii Zaopatrywania Artylerii wędrował z armią generała Władysława Andersa przez Bliski Wschód. Jego udział w kampanii włoskiej, w tym w bitwie pod Monte Cassino, gdzie pomagał w noszeniu skrzyń z amunicją, uczynił go postacią legendarną. Po wojnie trafił do ogrodu zoologicznego w Edynburgu, gdzie żył do 1963 r. ; W artykule omówiono znaczenie postaci Wojtka w kontekście historii wojennej, którą tworzył. Jest ona upamiętniona w wielu miejscach, w tym poprzez pomniki i książki, stając się częścią polskiego dziedzictwa kulturowego i wojskowego. Tekst analizuje nie tylko fakty z życia Wojtka, ale także jego rolę w budowaniu morale żołnierzy oraz pamięci kulturowej.
Abstract:The article presents a story of Wojtek the bear, an extraordinary companion of the soldiers of the 2nd Polish Corps during World War II. Adopted by the Polish soldiers in Iran in 1942, it became not only a mascot but also an active participant in the military life and a symbol of a genuine bond and friendship between humans and animals. Raised among the soldiers of the 22nd Artillery Supply Company, Wojtek traveled with General Władysław Anders` army across the Middle East. Its involvement in the Italian Campaign, including the Battle of Monte Cassino, where it helped to carry the ammunition crates, made Wojtek a legendary figure. After the war ended, the bear was relocated to the Edinburgh Zoo, where it lived until 1963. ; The article discusses the significance of Wojtek`s portrayal in the context of the war chapter he helped to shape. Wojtek has been commemorated in many ways, including monuments and books, becoming a part of the Polish cultural and military heritage. The text both examines the facts of Wojtek`s life and highlights its role in boosting the soldiers` morale and building the nation`s shared values.
