Abstract:
The paper discusses a forgotten publishing canon for handbooks, employed in the 1920's, serving a heuristic model of getting acquainted with literature. S. Adamczewski's "A Collection of Exercises and Questions Regarding Po'lish Literature for Gra?mmar Schools" was one of such handbooks. The author proved the didactic values of heuristics as a method of research. ; Adamczewski presented in the form of questions a suggestion for analysis of the Old Polish literature (16th and 17th centuries) and indicated possibilities of a comprehensive employment of this method, not only in the analysis or interpretation of texts but also in the general evaluation of individual literary works and of the literary output of a given epoch. The optimum solutions with regard to acquring knowledge, voluable suggestions as to the principles of teaching literature, stages of literary research and integration of various domains in teaching Polish have assured Adamczewski's work a lasting place in the history of handbooks and didactic activities.
