The aim of the article was fitness assessment in the aspect of physical activity of women over 60 years of age. The research included the group of 53 women. Group I (n = 32) comprised female students of the University of the Third Age and group II (n = 21) consisted of Senior Club members. A Fullteron test was used for fitness assessment, whereas to evaluate the level of physical activity the authors used a long form of International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). ; The research results were subjected to statistical analysis with the application of the programme Statistica 8.0. Average standard deviations were determined. The results of physical fitness tests were expressed in a T point scale. In the analysis of differences in distributions of analysed features between the groups the authors used a t-Student test for independent samples, whereas the correlation between the level of physical activity and belonging to a specific group was evaluated using the chi-square independence test. ; Unambiguous differences in the level of physical fitness were not found. The only, statistically significant difference appeared in the sample "get up and go". It was therefore concluded that the women from the University of the Third Age are characterized by a higher level of agility and better dynamic balance. The female students of the University of the Third Age constituted the majority in the group of those whose general physical activity was assessed as high. Such a difference cannot be considered statistically significant (p > 0.05). ; Results: Unambiguous influence of physical activity of women over the age of 60 on their general physical activity has not been found. A higher general level of physical activity and a higher level of activity related to sport were conducive to achieving better results in some samples evaluated with the application of a Fullerton test. ; The female students of the University of the Third Age are characterized by an insignificantly higher level of overall physical fitness and by an insignificantly higher level of general physical activity in comparison to the women belonging to KS.
