The article 'The origin and the beginning of the Neo-Gothic writing on the territory of German speaking Europe' makes an attempt to trace the origin of the Neo-Gothic writing. Therefore, documents from Bozen - a place regarded as the birthplace of Neo-Gothic (paleographic repertory in the Faculty of History in the University of Warsaw's- A copy book of the Bozen City Council as of 1520) have been compared with the sources from a collection of documents concerning Żagań's duchy in rhe years 1472-1549 found in Dresden's archives. ; Insightful analysis of the Saxon typeface shows indirect tendencies between the Gothic and the Neo-Gothic writing. Some letters signs in the Żagań's document as of 1474 present Neo-Gothic forms which means that the new writing trend might have originated in totally different region of Germany than Bozen and its surroundings, as L. Santifaller tried to prove. ; The fact that Żagań's document had been created half a century before those that Sanrifaller team examined provides additional afterthoughts. The comparative analysis of the typefaces described in the article defines to what degree the new writing tendency- the Neo-Gothic is present in Żagań's sources.
