Abstract:
The main changes to the country?s policy regarding the national minorities, including the Lemkos population occurred in April 1952 and were connected with the resolution of the Politburo of the Polish United Workers Party. The resolution outlined the main issues concerning the ethnic matters that needed to be addressed. ; Among the most important ones, the improvement of their financial condition, the development of education and culture as well as their social and political activation were mentioned. The above-mentioned actions resulted in an increased interest of the central authorities, and in the later period also of the regional authorities, with the issues of the persons displaced during the "Vistula operation".
