The subject of the following research is the phenomenon of a myth degradationand its presence in fantasy literature. That means, the issues concerningrelationships between fantasy and a fairy tale, an epic poem and a legend willbe covered by phonological "epoche" focusing only on description of a myth, religioussymbol, a mythologem, and mythic metaphor in that literature. ; The degradation is based not only on desacralization, dispertion, attempts to a myth rationalization, its trivializing and infantilizing, but also on return to cognitive and moral function of a myth introduced to fantasy literature. ; Since fantasy literature is extremely rich in specific types, and since it belongs to popular literature, chapter one has been dedicated to poetics of fantasy indicating its relationship with a myth and symbolical meanings as well as their specific way of presentation. Chapter two has been dedicated to methodological issues. It has been shown how to use phenomenology of religion to separate elements of mythical plot and to determine their meaning. ; Chapter three has been dedicated to morphology of "sacrum". Author distinguishes all mythical semantic elements connected with "sacrum", beginning from the emotional aspects of numinal experience through different kinds of events which describe the presence of "sacrum". In chapter five the analytics of distinguished mythical elements by pointing out their primeval functions determining the beginning of the world, the rules of its existence and the position of a man and the supernatural beings in this world have been shown. In chapter five the analytics of distinguished mythical elements by pointing out their primeval functions determining the beginning of the world, the rules of its existence and the position of a man and the supernatural beings in this world have been shown. ; In that part of the work there have been presented not only descriptions of mythical sources which are present in fantasy but also descriptions of important images and metaphors which show the great paradigm of being towards "sacrum". Also the phenomenon of mythopoeic speculation connecting literary fiction with mythical meanings which (according to Eliade) stays sacred and true has been described in that part of the work. ; In the last chapter of the research the question of the role of mythical and religious qualities and their function in fantasy literature have been described. The influence of mythical models on the metaphysical structure of literary reality and on phenomenon of banality of religious issues have been also presented in that part of the work. Generally the research has been trying to trying to answer the question set up by Eliade. ; It was concerned with the relationships between the myth degradation in the contemporary world and the condition of "homo religious". The presence of a myth in the literature of fantasy is the classical example of coming out the relegated "sacrum" in the imaginary world. At the same time it is worth emphasizing that very often "sacrum" appears in this kind of literature as a religion or a form of reducing symbolical, mythical and religious contents to their outside shape. ; That means that a myth in fantasy on one hand is the answer to phenomenon of sacrum degradation and, on the other hand accepts the form which is given by this process: rationality, historicity, dispertion and desacralization.
