Skobelski, Robert (1968- ) - red.
There is a general conviction that the activity of the unofficial collaborators (Tajni Współpracownicy, TW) was connected only with the communist security apparatus (UB/SB). However, similar methods of work were also used, though not on such a large scale, by the other formations of the repression apparatus, including the Citizens? Militia (Milicja Obywatelska, MO). ; The work of the unofficial collaborators of MO in the Lubusz Land was another area of the militia?s activity where the aspirations and real capabilities did not rise up the expectations. This was influenced by a few different factors. The most important of those were: ; 1) copying the solutions introduced first by the security apparatus which, in many cases, were useless in the work of MO, ; 2) the specific environment from which the unofficial collaborators were recruited and their distinctive personal features, ; 3) lack of the MO officers? professional knowledge and the general disregard for the service duty within that scope, which was common at the time, ; 4) lack of a stricter supervision and the reluctance to improve of the executive staff of MO units. ; The mentioned factors usually contributed to unsatisfactory opinions regarding the collaboration with the militia agents. Even if the information network became quite vast, its collaboration with the MO (or lack thereof, to be more precise) made undertaking effective actions that could prevent the threat of the common crimes impossible.
