Skobelski, Robert (1968- ) - red.
The perspective of utilizing the fact that Poland and Germany are direct and peaceful neighbors, as well as specifying the planes and mechanisms of a double-sided cooperation in the borderland region was the main subject of interest of the Sejm membership during the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th term of office. In the effect, the issue was often raised on the forum of the lower house of the Polish Parliament and shaped the character of the debates concerning the broadly-understood Polish-German relation development. ; It is, therefore, justified to depict the scale and scope of the debates where the matters of Polish-German borders and borderlands were an element of discussion. It might be necessary to emphasize their important, though often omitted, threads. Among them, the ones that focus less on the process of the negotiations preceding the recognition of placing the borderline at the Oder and the Lausatian Neisse and more on the possible consequences of ending the process successfully should be noted. ; It is, therefore appropriate to outline the parliamentary debates that concentrated on the role and significance of the borderline (and the borderlands) in shaping the bilateral relations and, as a result, the influence of being direct neighbors on its shape and character.
