Streszczenie:

Artykuł podejmuje analizę stanu badań nad polską prasą naukową w latach 1865-1918, wskazując na dotychczasowe osiągnięcia historiografii oraz widoczne luki badawcze. Ocena istniejącej literatury ukazuje fragmentaryczność ustaleń, brak całościowych ujęć statystycznych oraz niedostateczne rozpoznanie funkcji środowiskotwórczej czasopism naukowych. Przedstawiona charakterystyka ma charakter wstępny i stanowi próbę uporządkowania podstawowych danych o segmencie pism naukowych. Wyniki prowadzą do wniosku o wyraźnej potrzebie dalszych, systematycznych badań, które pozwolą pełniej ocenić znaczenie prasy naukowej w rozwoju polskiego życia naukowego w badanym przedziale czasowym.

Abstract:

The article analyzes the state of research on the Polish scholarly press between 1865 and 1918, highlighting both the achievements of existing historiography and the evident gaps in current scholarship. A review of the available literature reveals the fragmented nature of previous findings, the absence of comprehensive statistical studies, and an insufficient recognition of the role played by scholarly journals in shaping academic communities. The characterization presented here is preliminary in nature and constitutes an attempt to organize the basic data concerning the segment of scholarly periodicals. The findings point to a clear need for further systematic research that would enable a more comprehensive assessment of the significance of the scholarly press in the development of Polish academic life during the period under consideration.
