Abstract:
This article presents examples of building/co-creating musical culture through youth cultural exchanges commonly referred as "the meetings of cultures": 1). intercultural folkloristic exchanges of groups of different types, often accompanied by participation in local festivals (in the form of a competition or review); 2). cultural exchanges of music schools. ; The processes of formation of intercultural music communities were approximate from two complementary perspectives: 1). intercultural communication ("interculture" of Jurgen Bolten, "the third zone" of Fred Casmir, "transculturalism" of Wolfgang Welsch) and 2). performance studies (Erving Hoffman`s concept of stage and backstage, Victor Turner`s concept of communitas). ; In addition, the article indicate postulates and recommendations which the author based on the results of her own research, observations and experiences. Their implementation could contribute to the development of intercultural musical movement (both amateur and professional), deepen the reflection on the issue tackled, as well as increased pressure on the awareness of the role and importance of such events in a broader socio-cultural discourse (in popular culture), mainly in the context of contemporary intercultural relations.
