Abstract_pl:

Abstract:

Global research indicates the young as the biggest victim of the world economic crisis. Are they able then to become innovative force and important factor of modernization processes in Poland? There are many reasons which favour it. Any other generation of young Poles was so well educated and competitively open to new ideas and experiences as the contemporary one. What is more, no other generation was subjected to so invigorating stimulation - the period of system transformation, which meant not only many system changes but also Poland`s opening up to the world and global processes. ; The attention is also paid to the unique demographic phenomenon - great number of young people (however, at present this number is decreasing for the younger), which in transformation period is important as it evokes pressures for changes. On the other hand, it is not an easy time to be a young person: the crisis on job markets will definitely be the most difficult for young people, and the problems connected with entering adulthood makes it increasingly difficult to become independent. ; This is demonstrated by rising rates of adult children living with parents, decreasing rates of marriages or in particular very low birth rates, endangering not only the demographic balance but also economic and social security in macroscale. This problem applies to most European countries and has various (including cultural) sources, however, in Poland it is particularly neglected. Pro-family policy is a challenge as serious as the labour market. Without the success of the state in these areas the potential of young generation may not only be wasted, but can be transformed into resentment and unrest of a generation which is unique: demanding, ambitious and impatient.
